Day 23 Tue 27/12 Salt Lake – Beaver Mtn – Driggs ID. 2200m (53100 total)

An addiction to powder can cause you to make some strange decisions.

The morning weather updates were more of the same – a BIG system due to hit Targhee starting tomorrow and nothing much for Utah.  So bit the bullet, cancelled the last three nights of the Salt Lake accomm and headed BACK to where I was last week – 400 plus km in the opposite direction to where I need to go to make it to LA by Sunday evening.  And just to make it a REALLY full day did a side trip from Logan to Beaver Mountain – one of Utah’s smaller areas just south of the Idaho border.  Only put in a few hours here but it was fun.  Was snowing lightly for a while but didn’t really amount to anything.  Snow was relatively soft on the groomers but could see LOTS of rocks etc just above or just below the surface from the chairs so didn’t venture off piste.  Just about worth the detour for the trip up and back down Logan Canyon.

Back onto the interstate late afternoon and a fast dry run to Idaho Falls and made it just on dusk.  Checked that no problem yet with road conditions, took the less taxing and slightly longer northern route and was in Driggs about 7.30.

This better be worth it.
