Well Utah is looking at several feet of snow over the next few days, and Brundage is fully open but it’s on to Whitefish for me – most of the mountain now open and some minor snowfalls due over the next few days. By the time I’d made the obligatory stop at Montana Coffee Traders for their excellent cofee and almost equally excellent lemon and blueberry scone it was getting on to midday. As usual the top of the mountain was in cloud but the bottom half was clear. A little scratchy down low with LOTS of snowguns blazing, but cover quickly improved as you went up and was very good at the summit. Did a couple of runs down the north facing slopes of chair 7 then the long run down Toni Matt to the base. A quick lunch, repeat, then a trip up chair 2 to take the long easy run run back to the car park. Becoming VERY hard packed down low but snow was generally excellent and should only improve if the storm pans out.
Pretty much a tele-free day – did a short venture into Ptarmigan Bowl but a bit lumpy. Sun actually came out while I was having lunch and would have been OK to try East Rim Face but of course the cloud dropped back in before I got the chance. Back down to town andchecked into the Downtowner, and started on the evenings work of trying to do a monthly submission via email. Could be a long night.
