Day 7 Fri 30/11. Yarragon – Mirboo Nth.

Only got into my sheet bag in the early hours and the sleeping bag was never unpacked. Warm and humid from the get go and after grabbing a fine coffee from a local cafe were off and running. Far more pleasant conditions than yesterday and after numerous little ups and downs started.the first major climb to the Grand Ridge Rd.

Scenery just kept getting better as we climbed and after the world’s longest walk for water at a rest stop reached the ridgeline and greeted by relatively cool conditions and magnificent forests and views. Could have easily spent quite some time up there. Long descent punctuated by a few little climbs then started the second main ascent and realised how hot it still was. Very still and humid and had to take stops just to cool off, even though the gradient was quite ok. Nearing the ridge tops greeted by watts of cooler air and once back on the top got a pleasant run in to lunch, just a few hundred metres from camp. In kinder.conditions this would be a true classic days riding.

Spent the afternoon sampling the offerings of the Grand Ridge Brewery and planning how to organise a ride on the rail trail to spend even more time at the brewery.
